Mowgli

Recently, we had some furniture work going on at our home and well it woke up the sleeping carpenter in my husband. He just wanted to use all those interesting tools and make something. So we decided to make the pet tag for Mowgli. Bdw, those who don't know, Mowgli is a new member of the family. He is an adorable naughty cat who likes to roam alone on the terrace and a tag would make sure that if he ever gets lost, touchwood, he would make it back home.

To make the tag, all we needed was a fine piece of wood, cut and polished in a cute shape. And then some colors. But still, here is a list of all the materials that you will need if you also wish to make your own.
1. Wooden piece. Preferably thinner.
2. Color
3. Varnish
4. Small handy saw
5. Sandpaper

Once we had everything we needed, I cut the wooden stick into small squares. Yes, squares, because it was all trial and error. Then I put a hole at one end because I wanted a hexagon shape.  And then, polished those squares with sandpaper to give a nice look. Now, the squares were ready to be decorated and engraved.

My first choice to write was a marker. But when I sprayed varnish on it, it all started spreading. Bad choice 😋. So then, I took another square and this time I painted it. Beautiful 'Mowgli' on the front and our contact on the back. Just normal acrylic colors. And well, it worked. And then, the last touch was to coat it with varnish. I used the one I have for my paintings. And then that's it. We used the existing harness piece, a keyring to hold the tag and our Mowgli was ready to roam free.

He looks too cute with the tag and we just can't imagine him without it. So go ahead and create one for your own little ball of fur.

Till next time.

Calendar de Marvel

New events bring new ideas and this time it was a gift for one of my favorite person's marriage. Since she is a great fan of Marvel's, I thought why not to make a Marvel themed calendar for her. And yes, you read it right, one more calendar. I guess I am getting good at them.
And, that's how I ended up making this calendar. A lot of thanks to my friend Bhanu, who himself is the greatest marvel fan that I know of for helping me with the logos. Once the logos were there, it was all about transferring them on the paper. This time I used watercolor. I drew them first with a light pencil so that I can erase those pencil marks later on, and then filled in those colors. Whenever painting, always start from lighter colors. After the logos, I added the months and dates and in order to make it a bit personalized, I added some anniversary dates along with Marvel movies release dates.
After the month cards were ready, it was time for the stand. Well in that one, my husband came handy who quickly nailed two blogs of wood together in an L shape which I painted in Marvel logo to make it more MARVELous. 
And voila, the calendar was ready. So, now it's your turn, go ahead and make yours and if you would like, you can share your creation with me as well.
Until next time!
